AfIELN Call for papers


CALL FOR PAPERS – SECOND AFRICAN INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC LAW NETWORK CONFERENCE

The African International Economic Law Network (AfIELN) invites submission of abstracts for its second conference that is taking place in Johannesburg on 7-8 March 2013. The Call for Papers is attached.

The conference theme is Trade Governance: Integrating Africa Into The World Economy Through International Economic Law. The theme reflects the importance of integrating Africa in global trade and investment.

Abstracts are invited on the following issues 1) Trade in goods and agriculture, 2) Trade in services, 3) Foreign investment, 4)International finance and monetary policy, 5) Governance, 6) Competition law and policy, 7) Intellectual property rights and technology acquisition, 8) Infrastructure development and economic integration (especially transportation and energy), 9) Dispute settlement and 10) Multilateral economic governance and African economic integration.

Papers discussing global economic integration and development will also be welcome.

Abstracts should be submitted by email to Julie.Dunsford@wits.ac.za by 7 September 2012.Submissions should include an email with the author’s name and full contact information, and a Word attachment with an anonymous abstract of no more than 300 words. Abstracts will be considered by a process of double-blind reviews and decisions on proposals will be sent by 5 October. Selected presenters will need to submit their papers (maximum 8 pages) for inclusion in the conference package by 1 February 2013.

The registration fee for this conference is ZAR1,500.00. Conference participants will be responsible for arranging and paying for their own transport and accommodation. Limited scholarships covering registration fee, flights and accommodation may be available on submission of a motivation.

The conference will take place in the well appointed Chalsty Teaching and Conference Centre, Law School Building, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Please feel free to distribute this Call for Papers amongst your networks.
